Chennai filmfest to host ‘Mehran’

Iranian feature ‘Mehran’ is scheduled to be screened at the 2022 Chennai International Film Festival (CIFF) in India.

Roqayyeh Tavakkoli’s film will be screened at the 19th edition of the event.

Tavakkoli has said her film tells the story of a boy named Mehran who hosts a family from the Iranian city of Mehran which was affected by the 1980-88 Iraq’s imposed war on Iran.

The film is about the hospitability of the people of Yazd during the war.

‘Mehran’ was awarded at the 2020 edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Young Adults in Iran.

Starting from 2003, the CIFF is dedicated to presenting the best of International and Indian films.

The upcoming edition of the event will be held from December 30, 2021 to January 6, 2022.
